Scarce, post-war issue of the Fisk University senior yearbook, The Oval, from 1949. The school opened in Nashville, Tennessee, as the Fisk Free Colored School in early 1866, and is one of the oldest HBCU institutions in the South. The present volume provides a fine snapshot of students, academic and social life, and environment at the institution shortly after World War II. With an ownership inscription of senior Hampton Z. Barker, and signed throughout by fellow students and faculty.
