Justice and Tranquillity. The Texas Interracial Review. Vol. II, No. 3.

The November 1942 issue of The Texas Interracial Review, a semi-monthly devoted to the African-American community in Texas that was published in Waco, then Austin from 1940 to 1969. The paper then merged with the Capital City Argus to form the Capital City Argus and Interracial Review. The present issue emanates from the second year of the paper's existence, when it had already moved production to Austin. A couple of the articles here focus on wartime issues relating to the African-American community in Texas, including the second half of an article from the last issue on "Transportation as a Source of Wartime Friction in Texas" about segregated travel. The paper was edited by Mason Smith, with one of the articles relating to Smith's service as a member of the Texas Negro People's Wartime Committee. OCLC reports various holdings of issues at just six institutions, Thousand Oaks Public Library, Austin Public Library, Baylor, the Texas Newspaper Project, UT-Austin, and Wisconsin Historical Society.
