A substantial group of early issues, including the first four, of a rare amateur magazine edited and published by Park Lockrow in West Meriden, Connecticut. The subtitle for about half of the earliest issues reads, "Small, But Keen," then changes in a few issues in the third volume to "The Oldest Amateur Paper in Connecticut." Present here are the following issues: Vol. I, numbers 1-4, and 9; Vol. II, numbers 1-12; Vol. II, numbers 1-6; and Vol. IV, numbers 1 and 3. As with other amateur magazines of the time, The Diamond includes a lead article or story, editorials, poetry, and advertisements. Many of the early issues include parts of a serialized story titled, "The Little Rag Picker," and further issues include parts of other serialized stories, as well. OCLC reports institutional holdings at NYPL, the Connecticut Museum of Culture & History, Connecticut State Library, and AAS.
