Lee Place. Montgomery's New High Grade Residence District [caption title].

Montgomery, AL: Paragon Press, [ca. 1907]. Twelve-panel brochure, 9 x 6.25 inches when folded up. Some insect damage to outer edges and spine, costing a bit of text and weakening a couple of fold lines. Some dust-soiling and edge wear. Overall about good condition. Item #13292

An unrecorded development prospectus for a high-end neighborhood in Montgomery, Alabama in the first decade of the 20th century. Two of the panels show a layout of lots on Madison Avenue between Lassiter and Vickers; four panels are illustrated with twenty-seven photographs of existing nearby homes of substantial stature, similar to those to be built in Lee Place; five panels include promotional text for the development and Montgomery itself illustrated with photographs of downtown business buildings; and the front wrapper is illustrated with a large bronze statue of Robert E. Lee (similar to the one dedicated in 1908 and removed by protestors in 2020).
