An outstanding and highly informative sourcebook and directory for the international lesbian community in 1985. The work was issued by the International Lesbian Information Service (ILIS) following the conclusion of the United Nations Decade for Women Conference. In their introduction, the ILIS states their purpose in compiling the work: "ILIS wanted to provide information on lesbian existence around the world, on the lesbian movement, on the relevance of lesbianism to the women's movement, and on the power and joy that comes from loving women."

The work is a compendium of articles on important lesbian issues and organizations in South Africa, India, Japan, Costa Rica, the United States, and Spain, along with useful lists of lesbian-centered books, magazines, press contacts, and archives. The article on lesbianism in America is represented by an excerpt from Onyx - Black Lesbian Newsletter. The articles are printed mostly in French, with a few in English. The publication was a joint effort between ILIS and two lesbian organizations in the Netherlands. Rare, with only three copies worldwide in OCLC -- two in the Netherlands and one at Harvard.
