The detailed, and apparently unrecorded, program for the July 1940 meeting of the East Texas Baptist Sunday School at the Sweet Union Baptist Church in tiny Jacksonville, Texas. The group was an auxiliary to the obscure East Texas Baptist Association, based in Tyler. The group states its "1940 Emphasis" on the front wrapper, "In Social Change," and its main purpose at the top of the first page: "Butler College, our objective, is beckoning for our financial aid as never before. Our obligations are many, and for this special reason, we are asking that you do your best in a financial way at this session." The first few pages include information on the session's classes, music, a dedication to "the Christian youth of today" and "America," the lyrics to two songs, and so forth. The preponderance of the work (the last five pages) detail the "General Program" for the session, starting with its overall theme: "Reconstructive Resources of the Christian Religion." Thereafter the schedule is provided by morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, and includes devotionals, addresses, readings, music performances, and more. No copies in OCLC.
