A clearly-written contemporary copy of an original February 10, 1866 manuscript document, transferring the property of the former Confederate Ordnance Grounds from the U.S. Treasury Department to Samuel F. Mosely of Jefferson, Texas. Included in the sale were the foundry building, barracks, stable, and officers' quarters. A U.S. Treasury official describes the property: “One building known as the foundry building the same being one hundred and fifty (150) feet long and fifty wide. One frame building containing eight rooms, one kitchen containing two (2) rooms. One stable and Timbers attached thereto, and the rails on the premises, all the said property situated on what was known as the Confederate Ordnance grounds, and being the same purchasd by me of the US Treasury Department Feby 10 1866 as by receipt to me from H.B. Hawkins Special Agent Treasury Department.” Another passage describes the portion of the property including the officers’ quarters. Mosely paid a total of $1600 for the whole of the property.
