Proceedings of the Ninety Second Annual Grand Communication of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas and Jurisdiction Belonging...

[Fort Worth: 1967]. 326,[2]pp. Original printed wrappers. Some creasing to wrappers, mild soiling and edge wear. Internally clean. Very good. Item #12620

An unrecorded pamphlet containing a wealth of detail on the Texas Prince Hall Masons during the turbulent 1960s in Texas.  The work opens with photographic portraits of the Most Worshipful Grand Master I.H. Clayborn and his Grand Secretary Bobby Webber. The next 300+ pages contain detailed committee, financial, and other types of reports from various officials, the Grand Master's Address, "Fraternal Reports" and letters from various regional lodges in Texas, a passage on the importance of school, and much more, presented as they happened on each day of the annual session.  The text of an address made at the annual communication on the third day is included here. Authored by Pastor Othell Hand of Columbus, Georgia, and entitled "The Church As It Appears Today: A Disquieting Denunciation," the address discusses the declining influence of the church in the United States.  The preponderance of the work is comprised of the names, locations, officer lists, and membership rosters of Prince Hall members throughout Texas. Publications by the Prince Hall Masons in Texas are exceedingly rare, from any period, in institutions.  We could locate no examples of the present work in OCLC.
